Initialising an old computer
I still have a computer at home that pre-dates my current computer.
I'm thinking of initialising it and using it to learn coding.
I'm in the process of erasing the disk and reinstalling the operating system.
It has macOS Big Sur on it, which was released in 2020.
However, I found out that Big Sur is too old and neither Homebrew nor Karabiner-Elements can be installed.
With this computer, it seems that if it was up to macOS Sonoma, it could be installed.
But I read that someone in the Apple community wanted to put in Sonoma from Big Sur like I did, and they told a person to put in macOS Monterey from the Mac App Store, which was the best answer.
I'm downloading Monterey now.
I didn't know where to look for an operating system other than the latest one to put in, so I'm glad I looked into it.
By the way, this computer has a dead battery and a broken keyboard.
I have an external keyboard connected.
Installing an operating system takes a long time.
Monterey has been installed and next I'm installing Ventura.
When it comes to Ventura, it already feels quite modern.
The next operating system is Sonoma, but I think the specs on this computer are scarce, so I'll stop with Ventura.
I once used this external keyboard connected to a Mac with a US layout, and now I have it connected to a Mac with a JIS layout, but I noticed that the layout is still in US.
This is very bad.
I desperately looked up how to change it back.
Then I signed out once.
The keyboard was safely returned to the JIS layout.
I was a bit nervous because this keyboard is the one I use when I work from home.
I don't remember Linux commands very well, and I have a bit of trouble displaying the current path from the terminal, displaying the list of files in the current directory, including invisible files, and changing directories.
I almost forgot to install Homebrew and pass it through the path.
It took me so long to do that and I got very tired.
I also ordered a lot of clothes, bedding and slippers.
I bought a lot of winter clothes because I felt very lazy about switching between summer and winter clothing.
At one time I felt so strongly about buying less and better clothes.
Now I go to work five days a week and I feel like I want a quantity.
I'm trying to relieve some sort of stress by spending money.
I weighed myself this morning and it was less than I expected.
I want to continue to lose weight little by little.
Then I can go to the shops and try on clothes that look good and buy them.
Online shopping is easy, but there is a strong element of gambling.
When I see people trying to make themselves seem more sophisticated, I sometimes wonder why they do it, but I guess that's what the desire for approval is all about.
It is a sign of loneliness and unfulfilment.
I am similar to them because I am a shopaholic.
