I wasn't seriously ill
I had surgery for cancer in 2020.
When I was discharged from hospital, the nurse told me.
Now that the lymph nodes have been removed, you must never injure your foot from now on.
If you injure your foot, you will get cellulitis, which can lead to septicaemia and you can die.
Around September this year, I got something like a hard corn on my toe and it hurt when I walked.
I was very reluctant to go to a dermatologist and tried to treat it myself with a medicine called salicylic acid.
But it didn't work.
Salicylic acid is a drug that softens the skin.
While walking, the bandage with salicylic acid on it slipped off.
And the skin in an area where it was nothing to worry about became soft.
If I didn't see a doctor any more, I might end up with cellulitis or osteomyelitis.
I was terrified.
There happens to be a dermatologist near my workplace, so today I gathered up my courage and went in.
The doctor immediately scraped the hardened skin with a blade.
He then told me, by myself, to touch the scraped area.
I did so, and it doesn't hurt at all anymore.
It's amazing.
Medical science is great.
I'm glad I took the plunge and dropped in at the dermatologist.
I went home feeling happy and light-headed.
My husband was also pleased.
