Specialist anal hospital
I took a sudden day off work to go to a specialist anal hospital.
I had a tumour in my anus and it had got worse this morning.
I felt it was not a good idea to leave it any longer.
The hospital is in the area where I grew up and has been there for 100 years.
Since I was a little kid, my mother had told me that the hospital was famous for its treatment of anal diseases.
When I actually went there, the building was new and big.
The atmosphere was similar to the hospital where I was treated for cancer.
I ended up having an echo examination on the spot and the tumour was removed under local anaesthesia.
It was very painful when they anaesthetised me.
I go back to that hospital next week.
I was curious how they do it when they examine the anus.
I lay on my side on the bed, curled up.
It was very easy.
It was very different from a female gynaecologist's examination.
The people working there were kind and motivated.
I am glad I knew that hospital.
It is better to go to a more specialised facility.
I have blood coming out of the cut, so they put a pad on it, which women use when they menstruate.
When I had all my uterus and ovaries removed due to cancer, I was about to throw away all my pads.
But my mother gave me a scary face and told me to keep them, so I just kept the biggest size.
It helped.
