Lunch and shopping

Today I took the day off to meet up with a friend and we first had lunch together.
The friend came to my neighbourhood.
The food was very good, and as it was a weekday, we were free to choose our seats.

From there, we wandered around and visited the shrine, which is a bit famous.
I regretted a little that I had not brought my camera.

From there, we walked further to a supermarket that only stocks organic food.
My friend insisted that the dried mandarin oranges in bunches sold there were very tasty, so I bought some while she showed me how to buy them by weight.
We went round the shop and I remembered that I was out of herbal teas, so I also bought a box of mixed chamomile and verbena.

From there, we went to a large shopping mall, and while we had a look around the shop for confectionery ingredients, I remembered that I was out of apple cider vinegar, so I bought a bottle.
It was surprisingly expensive, so it must be good.
I have a salad every day with apple cider vinegar and olive oil.

At a supermarket in a shopping mall, there was a shopping cart with a barcode scanner and a tablet, which looked interesting, so we purchased bottles of tea together.
It was easy to check out as the items were read in beforehand when you put them in the basket.

We sat outside in the sun and tasted the tea we had bought, along with the dried mandarin oranges.
The dried mandarins have a strong flavour and the more you chew them, the better they taste.
They are a luxury item, costing around 730 yen for 100 grams, so it is perhaps no surprise that they taste so good.

We went into the station building to use the lavatory.
There we stopped at a bookshop and I bought a tin of throat drops with a picture by an illustrator my husband likes.
I thought I would give it to my husband.

We talked for a while on a sofa in the station building and then moved on to the shopping building next door to look around the shops.
At an outdoor goods shop, we saw an actual folding umbrella, which was well known for its lightness, and was pleased to see that it was really light and thin.
I decided that one day I would buy it.

I am deeply grateful to the friend who has been with me all along.
That person listened to me when I was having a hard time at work at the end of last month and promised me today.
Since I became ill around 2006, I have not seen anyone very often.
I would meet up with friends from overseas when they came to Japan, that was all.
Relationships outside of work and home are rare and precious.
